“As many of you may be aware, on Monday, January 28, 2008, President Bush signed the 2008 Defense Authorization Act, (H.R. 4986), an expansion of the Family and Medical Leave Act.  The expansion permits eligible employees to take job protected family medical leave due to exigencies related to active military service and to care for a family member who was injured while serving in the military.  While the bill became effective on January 28, 2008, draft regulations implementing the expanded provision are pending review and approval by the White House.

It’s anticipated that the expansion bill will prompt the Federal  Department of Labor to update the FMLA Poster (possibly the USERRA poster as well).  However, at this time, we have no time-frame available as to when.”
